College Admissions Essay Workshops

Celebrating the Eighth Year on the Vineyard!

  • August 15/16

“The Ambience was perfect,” says Tanya Lewis in describing her son’s experience at
Write for the Future’s College Admissions Essay Writing Workshop on Martha’s Vineyard. “Students were busily working on their assignments in a beautiful and tranquil environment free of distraction – perfect for inspiration and creativity. Prior to the workshop, Lance did not like writing and his work reflected his aversion. However, Lance was completely engaged in the workshop and in fact did not want to stop working when I came to pick him up!”

“You are to be congratulated for fine-tuning your workshops and training sessions to the needs of each student. My boys approached the college process very differently and you were able to appeal to them individually and successfully. Jordan is thriving at Trinity College and Brody is thoroughly enjoying George Washington University, Different kids, different schools, mutual success! Thanks for your hard work, dedication and commitment to enhancing the opportunities for young people – and their parents to transition to a wonderful new phase of family life. Write for The Future provided our family with a way to bridge the communications gap between our desires for the future of our children and the desires our children have for their futures. We, like many other parents exposed our boys to travel, culture, art, science, sports and financial training. We, like many other parents worked hard to assist, goad, prod and frankly nag our children to consider their interests and to investigate colleges that provided ways to reinforce those interests. However, when the time came to write the essays to complete the Common Application, we found success by turning to Write for the Future!”

Our Fifth Annual Workshops will take place on August 7/8 and August 11/12. Last year’s workshops sold out. We will open enrollment on a First Come First Serve Basis later this month. For more information, please contact Valerie Dent at valerie@writeforthefuture.com or at 646-705-3641.

Led by David Dent, NYU Professor of Journalism and Non-Fiction Writing and founder of “Write for the Future,” the program specializes in helping students craft essays that will reflect their abilities as writers in addition to spotlighting the unique qualities they can bring to a collegiate community.

And they become stronger writers in the process!

Our students won admission to an impressive group of schools, adding new schools to our college lists from previous years including Harvard, Swarthmore, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Dartmouth, Northeastern, Northwestern (Early Decision), Stanford (Early Action), Wesleyan (Early Decision), Wheaton (Early Action), Hampton, Hampshire (Early Decision), Macalester, Occidental, Case Western Reserve and many other new additions. Again this year, students were accepted at Columbia, Yale, George Washington University, NYU, Howard, Tufts, Boston University, Oberlin, Franklin and Marshall, University of Pennsylvania, Johns Hopkins, Cornell, Dickinson, American University, Morehouse, Spelman, Rutgers, and Penn State among others.

Workshop is open to Rising 11th and 12th grade students.

Come and spend 2 half-days of 4 hours each working with trained professionals on your college admissions essay.

The cost of the workshop may be applied to ongoing enrollment in our highly successful individual coaching program.
